STACATION

CA in Lake Geneva, with his brand new 2012 Hyundai Tucson.

Breakfast in Lake Geneva this morning, because we worked so hard yesterday, and will be entertaining later today. We're on our way to Egg Harbor when CA remembers a friend recommended Simple, so we detour there. It's just a couple of blocks north of Rt. 50 on the right, and next to a wonderful bakery.

Simple Breakfast Sandwich
Eggs, roasted red peppers, caramelized onion,
overnight oven roasted tomatoes, baby spinach, lowfat mozzarella,
tomato basil mayo on toasted panini bread 8.95

The Simple Benedict
Herbed polenta cake w/chicken sausage, poached eggs,
asparagus topped w/basil pesto hollandaise 9.95

Fantastic breakfast! Breakfast sandwich for me, and CA has a version of Eggs Benedict that substitutes polenta for the English muffin and adds basil to the Hollandaise. Both are wonderful. I save 1/2 of mine for another day.

Simple is a darling place, and the coffee and service are spot-on. We have a window seat, and bask in the gentle sunlight, savoring our slow morning. After breakfast and a visit to Sweet House of Madness for some cupcakes and a Key Lime tart, we find a sunny spot along the lake shore to read the Chicago Tribune while enjoying the lake view and light breezes. The weather has turned, so we need to be in the sunshine to be comfortable.

Lovely morning.
