Pinkalicious ES
Princess LG
Thank goodness for a spare pair of wings!
2 Lady Bugs!
DM engages the little girls in some pumpkin carving this a.m. CA and LG brought us Country Donuts so we are all hopped up on sugar. An appropriate way to begin Halloween...
We all have a pajama morning, some of us take naps, and then prepare for our trip to Chicago for some much anticipated festivities. Somewhere along the line, CA picks up our bucket of mail and we sort through the catalogs, fliers, bills, and what-not. Not one letter. No one writes letters any more.

My sleep is officially whacked! After a fun-filled evening in Chicago--the best Halloween in years--I fell into bed just before midnight and then proceeded to be awake at least once an hour until 3:13am when I headed out of the bedroom to blog. Not a good idea.
LG is having a restless night--most assuredly over-stimulated by all the celebrating. She was a beautiful pink princess for Halloween. KG conceded to wear the lady bug costume, after a bit of coaching, and ES was Pink-a-licious! (ES's beautiful pink wings were left behind at school, but thankfully she had a SPARE pair of wings, so all was not lost.) LA (newly pregnant) dressed as Cat Lady, and EG was a be-spectacled ghost. MK (7 months pregnant) donned a jack-o-lantern t-shirt and filled it out nicely. JL, CA, and I dressed as grandparents, and DM as a daddy...
We spent about 2 hours trick-or-treating in my niece's Lakeview neighborhood. So much fun. So much community participation. Too much candy! Lots of costumes and yard decorations, and very generous candy distribution. Lady Bug KF rode along in her stroller, every once in awhile with a little point of her tiny finger deigning to approach a doorstep to collect a bit of chocolate for her pumpkin bag. LG and SG got the Trick-or-Treat/Thank you! shtick down immediately and proceeded to charm everyone.
LA+EG are great hosts. After the outdoor activities we enjoyed Lou Malnati's pizza and a wonderful salad of mixed greens, toasted walnuts, blue cheese, fresh pears, and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. LA also made an over-the-top pumpkin streusel dessert--leftovers to be consumed tomorrow! I was just too full.
We headed back to the suburbs about 10:00pm and before arriving home stopped for some milk, etc., and I indulged in the purchase (and later consumption) of one of my favorites--Häagen Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter. YUM! (Regrets, I've had a few...). Hm-m-m-m, maybe that's why I am wide awake at 3:00am?
